Leafy Slouchy Hat

Leafy Slouchy Hat

First, I'll say I'm happy with how this turned out. It's beautiful! But I will admit, I found it frustrating at times. This one definitely forced me to check gauge (I went up 4 hook sizes), frog (MANY times), and was generally a test of sheer will, but I learned a lot along the way. Some tips if you want to give this one a go:

1. Use really good yarn. I used Mad Tosh Vintage in Glazed Pecan. You want the yarn to have some stretch to it, so 100% acrylic will drive you mad. You can get it here.

2. Gauge Swatch. Gauge Swatch. Gauge Swatch. Seriously. Do it.

3. This is NOT the time to binge watch a show.

4. Mark your place. I used Highlighter Tape for the first time. Why have I not used this before? Get some here.

5. Take 10 minutes to watch the video on slip stitching she recommends. The technique helped me, but I found I had to go really slow to get my tension right.

Everyone that has seen it so far wants to know when I started knitting. LOL! So yeah, there's that! I love the technique, so I plan to give it another go.

The pattern is called Leafy Slouch Hat by Adriana M. You can get your copy here. It's definitely worth it, so give it a go.
